Our Vision
Why Schools
Schools are the nexus of our neighborhoods. It’s where local history, present challenges, and future opportunities meet. As we look to support and nurture healthy families across our city, it only makes sense to start with local schools. We begin by acknowledging a common truth:
“As schools go, communities go.”
This statement captures the vision behind the School Connect COS initiative – when a school is growing and thriving, the surrounding community follows as well.
Community
What is a Community Team?
A caring, committed sphere of partners working together to seek the best possible future for students, families, schools, and neighborhoods. Alone, each of these partners can only do so much to provide support, but the model thrives when multiple partners agree to work together in supporting the vision of a nearby school.
Community Teams are comprised of individuals representing churches, businesses, non-profits, civic organizations, and households who want to help the school succeed in giving the next generation hope for their future.
These partners meet regularly to advance action plans specifically built with and for their individual school.
